Lenny Eliason for County Commissoner
Lenny Eliason has been an Athens County Commissioner since August 1998. He serves on the Board of Directors for CCAO (County Commissioners Association of Ohio) as a Past President. He served as a board member for CORSA (County Risk Sharing Authority) from 2002 until 2008. Lenny also serves as President of the CEBCO (County Employee Benefit Consortium) Board. He is serving on the Buckeye Hills Hocking Valley Regional Development Executive Committee and is a board member of HAPCAP Community Action Board as well.
Presently, he is serving as the First Vice President of the NACo (National Association of Counties) Board of Directors. Lenny is a member of the NACo Membership Committee, the Rural Action Caucus and on the NACo Labor and Employment Steering Committee. NACo Finance Committee. He is the chair of the NACo He is a past member of the NACo Leadership and Governance Committee and the NACo By-Laws Committee.
Lenny is a member of the County Leadership Institute Class of 2006.
Prior to elected office, Lenny had a 20-year career in broadcasting industry in various markets in Ohio including 10-years as a station owner.
Lenny earned a Master’s of Public Administration Degree from Ohio University in June of 2002. He is trained as a Public Sector Dispute Resolution mediator and also serves as a Mediator for the Athens Area Mediation Service.
In 2003, Lenny was appointed to serve on the PERRAC (Public Employees Risk Reduction Advisory Committee) by Lt. Governor Jeanette Bradley. In 2007, he was appointed by the Ohio Supreme Court to the Indigent Defense Task Force. Lenny served on the CASA/GAL Study Committee from 2005-2007.
Lenny lives in Athens, Ohio with his wife, Lisa. He is active in the Ewings Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Their son, Sam, is a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force and their daughter, Megan, is a teacher in the Memphis, Tennessee City Schools and is working on her EdD degree at Ohio University. Their first grandchild, Max Davis Rhodes, was born in May 2009.
